A true rags-to-riches rock 'n roll band in every sense. They didn't have a care in the world what people thought of them. They wanted to make classic, loud, proper rock tunes, please the fans, insult every interviewer possible and basically have a great time not caring who gets in their way. Noel churned after hook after hook with pretty much all of their albums while effortlessly crafting awesome B-sides. The Gallagher's fought, argued and had a love/hate relationship all the way up until the end. Here's to hoping they do a proper reunion tour one day. Mad fer it!

The quintessential "anyone can do it" rock band, Oasis were signed to Creation Records following their storming of an 18 Wheeler show, demanding that label-boss Alan McGee allow them to perform. This successful brand of "laddishness" has helped them become England's kings of rock 'n' roll in the '90s while doing a fair amount of barnstorming in America. Their simple, effective blend of T-Rex swagger, Johnny Rotten sneer, and Beatles melodies has proved to be a winning formula. Known as much for their antics as for their music, the brothers Gallagher have involved the public in their own personal temper tantrums, brought the Cocaine Ego back from the '70s, and once ashed on Mick Jagger's head. Controversies aside, they've managed to write some genuinely effective music and revitalize the spirit of rock 'n' roll with only a modicum of copyright infringement lawsuits.
However, were they original....Err no, as mentioned below the 2 bands they really ripped off were the Beatles and the stone roses, Liam tried to be a cross between Ian Brown and John Lennon! the only talented one in the group was Noel, there riffs and basslines became so samey, that for anyone learning guitar its normally oasis songs they are taught to learn first. Most influential band ever....behave! more influential than the Beatles, joy division, Pink Floyd and led zeppelin? best band of all time....err think not, have people not heard of the clash, the jam, rolling stones etc, they did write some good songs but yet so did Genesis yet no-one calls them the best band ever.
Im afraid i would have to place oasis in the same pen as bands like The Smiths, nirvana, guns 'n' roses, iron maiden as the most over - hyped, over-rated bands of all time, sadly some people don't have a clue ;(

It's easy to have a moan up about Oasis. At the end of the day, they wrote some great stuff, ripped off The Beatles and made a decent dent on the music scene doing it. For those in the know, their best songs were their B-sides. Shame that the B-side is pretty much dead these days. Alan McGee deserves everyone's respect as he signed Bob Mould's band Sugar, who were awesome. If you have never heard them then check them out. It's all leading up to the reunion anyway. We all know that Liam had pretty much blown his voice out by the end of it all and, as good as Noel's solo material is, he doesn't have the character in his voice that Liam had. Wonder how quickly the stadiums will sell out next summer when the cheque book comes out. Peace. X

OASIS achieved what they set out to...They became the biggest rock 'n roll band in the world (at the time)... OASIS got EXACTLY what they wanted. Everyone has an opinion, whether or not they love 'em or hate 'em; or side with Liam or Noel. They've been split up since 2009. It's 2014 & they STILL make the news (in Europe) & still have people talking about them.... (Will they or won't they reunite? And, when?!!!) That's what any celebrity wants...to still be photographed & in print. Once people aren't talking anymore...well; that'll be a sad day. I don't foresee it happening yet. However, if they don't reunite in 2016, after Noel tours his next solo album in 2015, then they just may lose the "window of opportunity to remain viable". But, as they themselves, sing in "Rock and Roll Star"; it's just rock and roll!! OASIS will stand in history alongside the "Giants" they once admired. And, c'mon...you have to get a kick out of their interviews!! They ARE entertaining! "Live, Forever" OASIS!!!!! There are people who are still madferit!

I remember when their hit songs were playing on the radio in the 90's, I could never get past the vocals, just got on my nerves. Sad they didn't fix that in the studio first before releasing it. They had some catchy tunes too. When I go back now to try and recapture the era of the 90's, I still just can't get past the vocals. Annoying is what it is. Nasal and whiny. And I really wish I could like them.
