So, so excited!!! Attention all Jesus and Mary Chain fans: their new lp/cd for release in 2017 is being released on March 24th!!! It is called "Damage and Joy". Something to look forward to as portions of New Jersey, U.S.A. have just been blanketed in snow & we've been in a "deep freeze" past 2 days, which will continue for 2 more. Great news at just the right moment!!

The Jesus and Mary Chain: one of The Most Influential Bands Ever & who got recognition, but not nearly enough as they deserve!!! 30 Years On, through ever-changing line-ups (since it Is Really all about the Reid Brothers, William & Jim!) after a split late 90's, these guys still touring!!! And, kudo's, Scottish Band who did Make it stateside, as they wanted!!! A decade before Liam & Noel Gallagher were prophesizing about their undoubted success as Oasis, JIm & William Reid were making their own predictions of how huge they'd be (even though more softspoken than the Gallagher brothers in interviews, but, then who isn't?! Every bit as witty, sarcastic & entertaining, though...hmmmm; could that have been some "brothers in music success-tutorial" that Alan McGee tore out of some music "bible" & had both sets of brothers study for ensured superstardom?!) That confidence was there & there would be no stopping the momentum!! "Psychocandy" may be the seminal lp, but, for me, it's "Automatic" all the Way!!!! Whichever lp/cd you listen to (& there are many & several compilations)....PLAY IT LOUD!!! And, check out the live recordings Live at Sheffield and Bristol (on one BBC CD) & The Complete John Peel Sessions (6 in all between 1984 and 1989..also on BBC/Strange Fruit). Understand live shows could've been reason behind not making it Super Huge (as they should have)...these particular live recordings are each exceptional, in differing ways (reviewed under their own titles). JAMC took their influences, 60s bubblegum & Phil Spector, The Velvet Underground & The Ramones, amped 'em up, added that fuzz & distortion & made their own inimitable sound at a time (late 80s) when, with a couple of exceptions, there wasn't much new happening musically. An extremely young Bobby Gillespie plays drums on "Psychocandy" before leaving to concentrate his efforts with Primal Scream (good decision! Primal Scream's also extraordinary and JAMC's all about the Reid brothers)...this is (Garage/Punk) Rock 'n Roll Pedigree!!!
