One of the more popular, yet still sadly underrated bands of the post punk set. Their debut LP, Crocodiles, is a must have for anyone even pretending to be into Joy Division, The Cure, or any of the darker side of alternative. The whole album is a tour de force of quality musicianship, true emotion and edge - as are their next 4 full lengths in their own right. These guys were way ahead of their time and were excellent live. With Ian McCulloch channeling his inner Morrison, along side the killer riffs of Will Sergeant and a steady rhythm section, they found some much deserved crossover fame with some later tunes like Lips Like Sugar, The Killing Moon and Bring On The Dancing Horses. E&TBM finished up the 80's with some pop tunes headed towards the dancey Madchester sounds, but still of quality nonetheless. Essential listening all around.
