There was a time when from the Belgian EBM was born a mellower sound; it didn't last long the "New Beat" - but I was a DJ in the first electronic music parties in Goa from 1985 onwards. A Split Second were, along with Front 242, Signal Aout 42, Nitzer Ebb, the rulers of the night time ...to then leave the dancefloors to morning tunes like New Beat (Belgian too) and unlike sources like Yello and KLF - so big up for A SPLIT SECOND!

I think they are pretty hard and also unique in their style. Also they represent the top elite of belgium music. So there is no doubt that it´s worth a lot having their records in your posession. Se them as a result of a great country with the best beer in the world!

Looking back, A Split Second looks almost silly compared with other industrial bands of the 1980s-1990s (See the Mambo Witch video). They don't seem as tough as Front 242 or as scary as Skinny Puppy. What is kick-ass about these guys is their music. The two albums released on Wax Trax! (A Split Second, and ...From The Inside) are absolute classics of that era when Techno, New Beat, EBM, and Industrial overlapped nicely.
