SLEEP CHAMBER - DISCOGRAPHY (106 VIDEOS)
Sleep Chamber
Profile:
Formed by John Zewizz around 1980, Sleep Chamber has had a wide assortment of members, and performed a wide variety of music. Very early works were very experimental in nature, with elements of musique concrete. Shortly thereafter Sleep Chamber was recording ritual/ambient music, which continued into the early 1990s. In the mid-1980s the band also began working with more electro/EBM material, often meshed with their ritual works. This trend generally continued and took on additional rock-oriented dimensions in the 1990s. Around 2000 the project became effectively silent, but in February 2009 Sleepchamber (new spelling) are back with brand new albums. They're currently recording a new album of more evolved Electronic/EDM to be released just prior to their 2016 tour of Europe, where they will be once again visiting Germany as well as Isreal and a few other countries. Strong rumor has it this will be their last tour, according to Zewizz' website. Boston area (other U.S.?) shows could be a possibility, but have not been verified. Front man John Zewizz is also working on a solo album of mostly original music, with a cover or two including Peggy Lee's "Fever".Less

Easily one of the most unique bands out of any music scene, with a discography containing diverse genre bending, erotic and taboo themes, plus albums that are all over the place when it comes to quality (I'm pretty sure there's a song where it's just Zewizz prank calling this freaked out woman). It's hard to really reccomend an album since they range from all sorts of different themes, but I'd namedrop "Fetish Garden" as one of my all-time favorites any day.

Indeed Sleep Chamber were an oddity, even for relatively diverse Boston music scene. Part rock/part ambient, they were interested in exploring all sorts of forbidden fruits - from S/M to black magic. The band, however, appears to be finished since they have no new recordings and it appears that band leaders (and perhaps the only constant member) John Zewizz decided to stop all musical activities, as well as stop drinking and doing drugs. SC, however, still have a solid back catalogue of nearly 20 years filled with S/M themed shows and a large number of intriguing and not-so-intriguing albums.
