Profile:
Dutch band formed in 1978 by Dirk Polak and Pieter Kooyman. Started out as a punk band but after they were joined by Tejo Bolten, Cor Bolten and Ton Lebbink around 1979 the style developed into new wave and art rock. This line-up was active until 1983.
Current line-up consists of Dirk Polak and Mick Ness.
The group used different variations of their name at different times, such as Mecano Ltd. (1978), Mecano (1979-1983, 2005-2007), Mecano Un-Ltd. (1997, 2014-2017).More

A short note:

What do you do when your band is cheating on you? You never forgive and never forget.
Life goes on without them.

Dirk Polak left Mecano in 2013 to go on with a new project Mecano Un-Ltd.
Tejo Bolten remains the only original member of Mecano created in the 80s.

So basically Mecano Un-Ltd. is a spin-off, not a variation.
