Bob mould has always been one of my favorite artist. I have very fond memories from my early teens of this great band called " Husker Du" coming out of the Minneapolis punk scene. I bought as many of their singles, albums, and bootleg cassettes I could find. Bob's work has aged just as I have, like a fine wine, the band "Sugar" came onto the scene and it was refined just as I had started to grow older and refine. Sugar was great and I love all of their work. Finally as I entered adulthood, Bob went solo and it seemed to fit me like a glove. His talent and songwriting were more mature, just as I had become more mature. I still put on a Husker Du Album and love it just as much as I do his latest solo album, Silver Age.

I remember growing up on the east coast and driving up to old Hammerjacks in Baltimore or maybe it was the 9:30 club in D.C. to see Husker Du. These where some cloudy times. Every time I hear a song from anything Bob has done, it takes me to a special place in my youth and early twenties when life was simple. I have a lot of stuff on CD, but not as much on vinyl, yet anyway. I remember giving away my vinyl and some great music that I am now paying three times the price to get the originals I once owned. I have had the opportunity to see a couple of shows here in Austin in the past few years and they where absolutely great.

The biggest thing for me is the moment he decided it was time to let the world know who he, Bob Mould, really is as a person. I was glad to see that he "came out" and it was very overwhelming as I had looked up to him for years as a super talented artist and as it turned out, he was just like me. Coming out is something that everyone who deals with this issue has to face in their own time and place in life. Some fans have been critical of this issue, but they should love the music regardless. I love his Autobiography and it is written almost like I was apart of it somehow in certain times as I was dealing with some of the same issues as well during the same time frame in my own life.

Thanks Bob for letting those of us who love your music and somehow always knew we where different for sharing your story with us, your fans. Hope to meet you someday at a "Bear"event or if you are in Austin anytime, other than SXSW, I'll be sure to come out to see you. SXSW is great, but so crowded now. I also love the beard, the grey hair and the flannel. I have to admit you are one of the best looking members of the Bear Community.

A true fan forever,

Texasbear
